Last Chance to Help Rooftop Solar

Posted on Friday, April 25, 2014

After months of work meeting with stakeholders including the utility, the PUC, the consumer advocate, the Sierra Club, HSEA, and PV coalition, and coming to consensus on a draft for grid modernization that we could all support--there is a last minute effort to wreck the legislation by Senator Baker by taking out any reference to "societal benefits" of solar energy--which would include environmental to economic benefits.  This would tie the hands of the PUC and distinguish Hawaii as a state that doesn't recognize the societal benefits of renewable energy.  How can you help?  You could call the following conference committee chairs:

Rogue Systems

Posted on Tuesday, March 04, 2014

The utility has informed us that they are getting ready to take action on PV systems that have been installed and energized without permission (aka Rogue systems).   The likely action will be either that the utility installs a digital meter on the property, or the utility locks out the system. If your company has any systems out that should not be energized, you have this last chance to bring them into compliance.

Does your company market battery based PV systems?  If so, HSEA is asking members to submit line drawings of systems to include in our technical advisory group on rule 14H.  The group is under a tight deadline, so please submit any applicable line drawings ASAP (by the end of this week to be involved in discussions from the beginning) directly to Leslie or the HSEA info email address.
