Mark Duda

President

Mark Duda is a founding principal at Distributed Energy Partners, a Hawaii based, owned and operated firm specializing in the development of commercial and public sector renewable energy projects and RevoluSun, a residential solar integrator. As President of the Hawaii Solar Energy Association, he develops the organization’s legislative agenda, and its regulatory activities in proceedings on Feed-in Tariffs, Distributed Generation Interconnection, Net Energy Metering Utility Decoupling, Advanced Metering/Time-of-Use Rates, Integrated Resource Planning, and Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standards among others. Mark is also Co-Chair of the Renewable Energy Working Group of the Hawaii Energy Policy Forum, a member of the Steering Committee for Energy Efficiency of the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative, and a member of State of Hawaii’s Steering Committee for Renewable Energy Workforce Development. In each of these roles he works to expand the supply of renewable energy in Hawaii. His previous experience also includes work as a consultant specializing in housing and mortgage market issues, and as a Research Analyst at Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies.

Myron Thompson

Vice President

Myron Thompson is the founder and President of 21st Century Technologies, a local company founded in 2004 that delivers superior renewable energy and green building products, along with consultation services to its clients. As President, Myron is dedicated to ensuring that their products always work toward the greater good, serving as one facet of his many avocations and involvement in socially responsible businesses and community development. Along with being a Board Member of the Hawaii Solar Energy Association, Myron is also on the Board of Narconon Hawaii, Enterprise Honolulu, Hawaiian Homestead Technologies, and the Myron B. Thompson Academy. He received his Bachelors in Business Administration in 1975 from Denver University, and Management Consulting Certification from the Hubbard College of Administration in 2000. Myron’s interest in renewable energy stems from his careers in both the computer industry and solar industry during their early formative years.

Rolf Christ

Treasurer

Rolf Christ is the President and CEO of R&R Solar Supply, the only manufacturer of flat plate solar collectors in Hawaii. Starting out as an installer in 1981 and later founding R&R Solar Supply in 1988, Rolf continues to be an outspoken voice of the solar industry. Currently acting as Treasurer, Rolf has served on the HSEA board for more than 17 years consecutively. Active in the industry on a national level, Rolf also serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Solar Rating and Certification Corporation (SRCC), known for the certification of solar hot water collectors and systems to be eligible for the federal tax credit. His “from the ground - up” industry experience and involvement both nationally and locally give him a unique perspective into the needs of the association and its contractor members.

Yvette Maskrey

Board Member

Yvette is the District Manager for Honeywell Utility Solutions (HUS), a division of Honeywell International.   In Hawaii, HUS provides program administration services for Hawaii Energy – offering energy conservation and energy efficiency programs under the direction of the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission.  HUS also supports Hawaiian Electric Company’s demand response programs.  As part of her role, Yvette is responsible for all aspects of the Hawaii branch, from personnel to operations.

In 2010, she was a member of the twelfth class of the Pacific Century Fellows, a leadership program focused on developing a greater awareness and sensitivity to the people and institutions of Hawaii.  She also serves as a Director for the Hawaii Solar Energy Association and Vice-President of Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE).

Cully Judd

Board Member Emeritus

A founding member of HSEA, Cully Judd’s appreciation for simple durable designs got him started in the solar thermal business in the early 1970s.  His lifetime love and commitment of harnessing the Sun’s energy now finds him at the helm of Inter-Island Solar Supply, Hawaii’s largest wholesaler of renewable energy and other environmental products, and SunEarth Inc. in Southern California, the Nation’s leading manufacturer of solar thermal equipment.  At home in Hawaii, Cully is proud to have helped facilitate the highest per capita use of solar hot water systems in the Nation, and on the Mainland US he hopes to see the solar thermal market wake up once again.  When he is not at the office or traveling the world looking for solar equipment, he can be found at his North Shore solar shack with partner Carol, daughters Julie, Meleana and their dog Ewe.

Rick Reed

Secretary

Rick Reed is President of the Solaray Corporation in Honolulu, HI, the parent company of three operating companies which include SunEarth, Inc. a Fontana, CA based manufacturer of solar thermal collectors and systems, Inter-Island Solar Supply, a wholesale distributor of renewable energy equipment, and Pacific Liquid and Air Systems. He has worked for the federal Department of Energy’s Western Solar Utilization Network and the State of Hawaii’s Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism. Rick has served on the boards of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) in Washington D.C. and the Solar Rating & Certification Corporation (SRCC), and is a current board member of the California Solar Energy Industries Association (CALSEIA). He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Claremont McKenna College and the University of Hawaii, respectively and was an East-West Center grantee from 1977-1979.

Steve Allen

Board Member

Steve Allen is owner and operator of Allen’s Plumbing, a locally based company with over 30 employees, which has presence on Oahu, Maui & Hawaii. Steve is an active member of the Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors and Quality Service Contractors organizations, the 2 largest plumbing trade organizations in the country. He was recently invited to serve as the Solar Thermal expert on the PHCC’s Education Foundation Task Force in Washington D.C., a role where he can draw on his 20 years of experience as a licensed Plumbing and Solar Contractor.

Brad Albert

Board Member

Brad Albert is the co-owner of Rising Sun Solar Electric, a Maui based solar integrator which installs both hot water and PV systems across the state. In 2009 Pacific Business News recognized Rising Sun as Hawaii’s 6th fastest growing small business and Hawaii’s 8th highest PV installer based on 2008 kW installations statewide. Brad began his career 10 years ago in Northern California, installing Hot Water and PV systems, and has been working in the PV industry ever since. He is a member of Maui Electric Company’s Integrated Resource Planning Advisory Board, and serves on the Maui Economic Development Board’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Committee for Renewable Energy. Brad is also founder of the Hawaii PV Coalition, a non-profit organization working to promote solar electricity and energy independence for the state of Hawaii, hosting solar workshops and annual solar home tours.
