EUCI Future of Renewable Energy Development in Hawaii Conference

December 12, 2011 - December 13, 2011

Overview

This summit will provide landowners, regulators, and developers in Hawaii with an opportunity to convene, discuss, and better understand their interdependent relationships. The day-and-a-half event will help energy industry leaders discover important issues and strategies that need to be addressed in energy development and find realistic and practical solutions involving energy policy and legislative and regulatory efforts to attain clean energy goals; financing mechanisms; community and public affairs; military and ocean resource-based projects; site control and land acquisition; and systems integration.

Challenges arise when parties find themselves with similar goals but often competing agendas. Through active participation and deep inquisition into important issues, parties can find more points of agreement and attain fair and sustainable results that benefit overall clean energy efforts. The goal of achieving energy independence for the islands poses a unique set of opportunities and challenges that should be more fully discussed in a group setting. This summit will be a venue in which to identify action items that will promote collaboration in order to streamline policies and procedures and achieve the sustainable goals of the state of Hawaii. This conference is intended to support the goals of Hawaii's Clean Energy Initiative.
